Microsoft and Yahoo have agreed to the terms of an online search and advertising deal that will be announced as soon as Wednesday, according to reports.

With the appearance of Windows 7’s Release to Manufacturing (RTM) build, Microsoft may be hoping that it can finally dismiss Windows Vista as an unsuccessful experiment that paved the way for something better.

The company is obviously hoping that Windows 7’s new and enhanced features will be enough to entice users back into the Microsoft fold and finally put Windows XP to rest. Microsoft has announced this afternoon thatWindows 7 has been released to manufacturing. In other words, Windows 7 development has wrapped up, and it’ll now go on to PC manufacturers so they can prepare for October’s Windows 7 launch.

According the the Windows 7 Team Blog, the RTM is build 7600. The public beta was build 7000, and the release candidate was build 7100. Microsoft has also announced that Windows Server 2008 R2 has also reached RTM status. continue reading…

RFID orders continue to surge, reports E-Week, with the United States leading the way. It’s closely followed by the United Kingdom, China and Japan, with RFID sales outpacing the economy.

Global sales of RFID technology are expected to grow 5 percent to $5.56 billion in 2009, according to IDTechEx, the surge in sales will be accomplished despite the world’s largest RFID project — the $6 billion China National ID card scheme — being completed a year earlier. continue reading…

In less than a week, Microsoft could reach an alliance with Yahoo that could compete better with Google in online search advertising, according to media reports.

Microsoft has been courting Yahoo on and off since February 2008, when it offered to buy the company for $44.6 billion in cash and shares. The offer was rejected and consequent discussions focused on Microsoft taking over Yahoo’s search and advertising businesses. continue reading…

If you statically install mod_rewrite module (on Apache 2 will install it by default) you do not need to load the module manually by using ‘LoadModule’ option in httpd.conf file. If you do this, you will get error messages telling you that the module is built-in and can not be loaded.
