BlackBerry OS 6.0.0.448 Running Perfectly on My Curve 3G 9300

BlackBerry OS 6.0.0.448 had been reportedly leaked in the end week of January 2011. The build comes with pre-installed of  BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.1.45, Facebook  1.9.0.26, Twitter 1.0.1.11 and many more.

UPDATE!! Good news. OS 6.0.0.448 is now officially available from Vodafone for BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Curve 9300. You can download the software directly from Vodafone website: Bold 9700 OS 6.0.0.448 and Curve 9300 OS 6.0.0.448.

My previous OS is official OS 6.0.0.380 from Starhub Ltd. Today I just plugged the device into my laptop via USB cable then run the BlackBerry Desktop Software. The software prompted me that an update version of BlackBerry device software (version 6.0.0.448 Bundle 1879) is available.

I can easily click the ‘Get update’ button to start updating, but before doing that make sure to view other device software versions installed in locally by clicking ‘View other versions’ button.

From the image above, my current installed OS is OS 6.0.0.380 and the available software update is OS 6.0.0.448. Just press ‘Install..’ button to start installing.

Sit and wait while the software is updating. It depends on your internet speed connection to download the modules and take up to around 30 minutes to install.

After a couple of hours running the OS 6.0.0.448,  I can say this OS running perfectly on my BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300. My favorite applications such as Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, Twitter, Facebook and of course the BlackBerry Messenger running without any problems.     Hi Ahmed, Can download and use 6.0 version which is meant for Australia as I am unable to find the same for India. Will it work ok with my phone and I will not be over rulling any policy of telecom regulations in India? please suggest. Thanks.

    Which OS 6 version are you using? The OS 6.0.0.448?
    If so try to downgrade to the OS 6.0.0.380 official release downloadable from Starhub website.

    Hi Hari,

    It is better to download the device software installer first and then install it in your pc/laptop. So the software upgrade will be doing locally. You can find the download link (from Vodafone) in the end of my post above.

    I too tried to update my BB9300 into OS 6.0, in spite of being connected to the internet the download reached only up to 571 module, is there a issue with the download server if I use it from India??

    If so, is there any other solution to the same??

    Do I need to download the Desktop Software again for trying it again with a different connection??

    Please Help!!

    Salam Fuad. I have just installed the OS 6 in my BBCurve3g but it cant be operated as it takes hours to get me to the home screen. Very slow. Even to type my BB password took me almost 30 minutes. Until now I still cannot use my BB sebab it is soooo sllooww… How?Hope u can help! T_T

    Hi Charis, it can be caused by many things. I would recommend you to download the installer (.exe) file and install it locally. The BlackBerry Desktop Manager will install the update locally from your PC/Laptop.

    I am getting the same problem as Ahmed….I am from South Africa and have sufficient bandwidth available. Iget up to module 551 and the error pops up. Could this be a speed issue?

    Hi Mas Jaya, Apa kabar? Hope you are fine there.
    I think the internet connection was interrupted or the speed was not that fast enough to access the Blackberry servers to download the files. I used 2Mpbs+ dedicated line when upgrading the device software and it finished completely without any problems.

    when the step of downloading the device software, it comes pop up of “An Error has occurred downloading software for your device. Please verify your Internet Connection or try again later, if the problem persists”

    BUT, I’m still connect to the internet all the time…

    can you help me with this problem?

    Hi Ahmed, the error message clearly told you that there was a problem with your internet connection while upgrading. Make sure you are connected to internet while upgrading the software.
