Hello, Though this post is old, I am replying so that it will be useful. I had little luck by myself with wvdial, usb_modewitch and libusb. I used Sakis3G which is a script and it solved problems for me. It helped me connect to my USB modem(Olicard 145).

Hi,
I had trouble with Redhat but finally managed to sniff the USB comms data while window XP mobile connect client was dialing and got this init string value.

Init2 = AT &FE0V1X1 &D2 &C1 S0=0

Now I can access the net using Redhat Linux. I'm accessing the Dialog Telecom - Sri Lanka netowrk using the below wvdial.conf settings.

#internet Dialer version 1.60
#created by Mustakim
#Written for the linux modem
# Change Log:
#
# Added support for HSDPA.
# Added Headers and version control.
[Dialer Defaults]

Init1 = ATZ

Init2 = AT &FE0V1X1 &D2 &C1 S0=0

Modem Type = Analog Modem

ISDN = 0

New PPPD = yes

Phone = *99***1#

Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0

Username = user

Password = pass

Baud = 460800
