Packt Open Source Awards 2011 launched

Packt, a modern publishing company, producing cutting-edge books, eBooks, and articles for communities of developers, administrators, and newbies alike, has launched its 6th Annual Packt Open Source Awards.

Running successfully since 2006, this year Packt aims at a much bigger and better picture. They have 3 new categories to the awards. The 6 categories, for which the nominations are done, are: Open Source CMS, Open Source Mobile Toolkits and Libraries, Most Promising Open Source Project, Open Source Business Applications, Open Source JavaScript Libraries, Open Source Multimedia Software.

Winners of each of these categories will be given $2500. For first and second runners up, the prizes are $1000 and $500 respectively. Also, a lucky voter would be chosen by a draw for an Amazon Kindle. Complete details about the awards can be found at http://www.packtpub.com/open-source-awards-home

Users are invited to vote for their favorite open source projects across all the applicable categories and maximize their chances of winning their share of $24,000. Public votes will be combined with ratings from a panel of Judges with the winners announced on November 7.

Packt is giving away an Amazon Kindle to a lucky winner chosen randomly from the voting stage. To ensure you have a chance of winning, vote now. In other Awards news, Packt has introduced subcategories to the 2011 Open Source Awards finals for the CMS and JavaScript Library categories.
