Transfer domain to Namecheap on Dec 29 for only $7

In supporting against SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act), Namecheap is declaring December 29th as ‘Move Your Domain Day‘ as a call-to-action for those who oppose SOPA and wish to leave service providers who support SOPA.

Website / blog owners who host their domain on Go Daddy had been shocked with Go Daddy’s decision to support SOPA even though they no longer supports SOPA since Dec 23. But it’s too late. Some sources said that, thousand of domains had been moving from Go Daddy to other domain registrar who don’t support SOPA at all such as Namecheap.

In a statement, Richard KirkendallCEO of Namecheap said:

While we at Namecheap firmly believe in intellectual property rights, SOPA is like detonating a nuclear bomb on the internet when only a surgical strike is necessary. This legislation has the potential to harm the way everyone uses the Internet and to undermine the system itself. At Namecheap, we believe having a free and open Internet is the only option that will continue the legacy of innovation and openess that stands for everything we all value in our modern society.

Because of the above reason, Namecheap is declaring the ‘Move Your Domain Day‘ on December 29th. If you transfer your domain on that day, you will be only charged for $6.99 per transfer with coupon code SOPASUCKS.  Additionally, for every domain transfer initiated on the 29th, Namecheap will donate $1 to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, to help them continue the legal fight against SOPA, PROTECT-IP, and other overbroad and ill-considered legislation.

Prepare to transfer / register your domain to Namecheap now.
