In this tutorial I want to show you how to install Opera Browser 10.60 on Linux (in this case I use Slackware 13.1).
Below are the steps:
1. Download source file
Go to Opera Download Website http://www.opera.com/browser/download/
Select “Slackware” as the distribution and choose the ‘tar.gz’ package format as pictured above.
Select the download location nearest to you. Then click ‘Download Opera’ button/link.
2. Extract the file and begin installation
After the file has been successfully downloaded, now extract the file and begin the installation.
$ tar zxf opera-10.60-6386.i386.linux.tar.bz2
$ cd opera-10.60-6386.i386.linux
$ sudo ./install
The installation wizard will appear as follow:
Click OK
Click Yes to Continue.
Select ‘system – Install globally’ then OK
Leave it empty and select OK
Opera browser has been installed successfully. Select OK.
You can run Opera by issuing the following command:
$ /usr/local/bin/opera
or click Opera from the main menu.
