How to add HP LaserJet 3055 to OS X Lion

HP Laserjet 3055

HP LaserJet 3055 All-in-One is an HP solution for printing, faxing, scanning and copying in a single device. The device is fast and high quality output and it supports TCP/IP configuration. So you can print from any computers inside your LAN via IP address.

This video shows you how to install / add the HP LaserJet 3055 All-in-One Printer to Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 on my MacBook Pro. It should be also applicable for the previous version of Mac without many differences.

I’m trying to connect the exact same printer to my macbook air, but I don’t have an IP for it … so I go and add it through “standard” – the mac sees it and when I want to click “add” it goes to look for the respective software but then comes back saying it can’t find it and I need to check with the manufacturer. So on the HP website I can then manually download the printer software for Laser 3055 for OS X 10.7 – it downloads a .rfu file …. but that’s it? that file doesn’t do squat.
any good idea what I’m doing wrong? I’ve connected printers before (not from HP) to the same mac and no problems at all.
    Thank you.
