I bought a Compaq Notebook PC, a Presario CQ42-270TU, with FreeDOS as the default OS. Then I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit edition. At the first boot it can not detect the Graphics VGA card, Bluetooth, and some network related devices.
Of course it must be that I need to install the drivers for those devices. Basically there is Software & Driver Downloads page for the Compaq Presario CQ42-270TU in the HP website but you may be confused with some drivers of software looks the same but totally different. Some softwares like HP MediaSmart for HP Webcam also not available in the support website.
Because of that I compiled the drivers, tools and softwares for Compaq Presario CQ42-270TU for Windows 7 32-bit edition that you can download. It includes:
- Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth Software and Driver
- Intel Management Engine Interface Driver, to solve unknown ‘PCI Simple Communications Controller’
- HP MediaSmart Webcam Software
- HP Quick Launch Button
- HP Support Assistant
- HP Wireless Assistant
- Graphics VGA Driver for Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M
The compiled file is in .rar file so you need WinRAR or any softwares that support to extract .rar file.
Note: Before you install the drivers, it is better to run Windows Update first. Windows Update will try to install the latest available drivers and softwares for the supported hardwares. You may not need to install all the drivers above after installing the available updates. So make sure that you run the Windows Update first before manually installing the drivers above.
